House Weighs Essential Greenhouse Gas Guidelines

WASHINGTON – The House Committee on Natural Resources today held an oversight hearing on guidance from the Council on Environmental Quality intended to help federal agencies assess greenhouse gas emissions for projects and programs under the National Environmental Policy Act.

Scott Slesinger, legislative director at the Natural Resources Defense Council, issued this statement:

“There's no denying it. CEQ’s greenhouse gas guidelines are essential. They will pave the way for smart policies that better protect our children, our health and our communities from dangerous carbon pollution and climate catastrophe.”
