NRDC Cites Progress on Deal to Cut Carbon Pollution from Arizona Power Plant

WASHINGTON (July 26, 2013) -- An agreement to cut pollution and reduce carbon emissions from the 2,250-MW Navajo Generating Station (NGS) in Arizona was announced today by representatives of environmental groups, the NGS owners, Indian tribes and the Interior Department.

Sharon Buccino, Land and Wildlife Program director at the Natural Resources Defense Council in Washington, issued the following statement in response:

“We are glad to see progress toward reducing carbon emissions at the facility and the Department of the Interior’s commitment to solar and other renewable energy.”

NRDC was not a party to the agreement, which must now be submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency.
