NRDC Hails New Approach to Expedite Permitting of Infrastructure Proposals

WASHINGTON (May 14, 2014) -- The Obama administration today unveiled a fresh approach toward reviewing and approving major construction projects on federal lands, such as roads, bridges and airports.

The following is a statement by Peter Lehner, executive director of the Natural Resources Defense Council:

"A plan to expedite the permitting of infrastructure projects that does not shortchange the environment or endanger wildlife is just what America needs. We look forward to working with all stakeholders to ensure that worthy projects focused on transitioning this nation to a clean energy economy are given a fair shot.”

Both President Obama and Vice President Biden are scheduled to speak about the administration’s new initiative today.
