Obama Readies Plan to Curb Carbon Pollution and Stop Climate Change

WASHINGTON (May 31, 2014) – As the Obama Administration prepares to take the first steps in U.S. history to limit carbon pollution from power plants, the primary cause of climate change, Frances Beinecke, president of the Natural Resources Defense Council, issued this statement:

“Setting carbon pollution limits will put America on a new course – toward a cleaner energy future, greater energy efficiency, a healthier population and a more prosperous economy. That’s the right solution at the right time. Climate change is here and now. We must limit carbon pollution – just as we do for mercury, soot and other harmful pollutants.’’
