Ensuring Uniform Protections for NJ Residential Water Customers during COVID-19

Testimony
June 10, 2020

NRDC strongly urges the NJ legislature to establish mandatory protections for the residential customers of all water and wastewater utilities (whether publicly owned or privately owned), including a prohibition on shutoffs, interest charges, liens, and other collections activities during and for at 120 to 180 days beyond the state of emergency, and a guaranteed opportunity for extended repayment of past due bills after the shutoff moratorium ends.
