Joint NGO Comments on EPA’s Proposed Low Priority Chemicals under TSCA

November 15, 2019

These comments were filed jointly by Safer Chemicals Healthy Families, NRDC, Earthjustice and Environmental Health Strategy Center, responding to EPA’s proposal to designate 20 chemicals as “low priority” under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Under TSCA, EPA is required to designate 20 chemicals as “low priority” – meaning that they don’t have the potential to pose an unreasonable risk to human health or the environment. The comments detail the numerous ways the EPA has failed to meet the law’s requirements, and why none of the 20 proposed chemicals have been shown to qualify for a “low priority” designation.
