Methane ICR Withdrawal FOIA Request

This Freedom of Information request was submitted in reaction to EPA’s abrupt withdrawal of its methane information collection request, which the agency undertook in 2016 to aid in setting methane standards for older sources in the oil and gas sector. It primarily seeks two categories of documents: any data submitted by companies to date in response to EPA’s request, and documents reflecting correspondence between EPA and the states and/or industry representatives requesting the withdrawal and/or a stop to the development of standards. This information will shed light on EPA’s reasons for the withdrawal, as well as provide the public with highly useful data on methane pollution from the oil and gas industry.
