The U.S. Court of International Trade in New York today ordered the Trump administration to ban seafood imports from Mexico caught with gillnets that kill the critically endangered vaquita porpoise. The court order follows a lawsuit that NRDC and other conservation groups filed in March. Absent immediate and robust action from Mexico, the tiny porpoise could be extinct by 2021. As few as 15 of the porpoises remain.
