Solar and wind costs could drop signficantly by 2025 -
A new report by the International Renewable Energy Agency says that if governments put policies in place to minimize transaction costs and simplify the approval process, the global average costs of electricity from solar and offshore wind could fall by 59 percent and 35 percent, respectively, within the next decade. France ratifies Paris climate change agreement -
This morning President François Hollande formally ratified the landmark accord and encouraged other European nations to follow suit by the end of the year. The agreement will enter into force after 55 countries representing at least 55 percent of global emissions ratify it. Reuters
Scotland surpassed its emissions target six years early -
The government's goal was to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 42 percent by 2020. But new data show that in 2014, the country's emissions were already 45.8 percent lower than in 1990. Scotland now plans to update its 2020 target to a more ambitious reduction. Nicely done! BBC
