President Obama designates first U.S. National Monument for women's equality -
The Sewall-Belmont House and Museum on Capitol Hill has served as the headquarters for the National Woman's Party since 1929. Today, which is National Equal Pay Day, Obama created the Belmont-Paul Women's Equality National Monument. The designation honors the fight for women's equality and protects the site from future development. Washington Post

Climate change and El Niño are driving abnormally high water temperatures that stress coral, causing them to expel algae, which can lead to mass coral death. Plan to let bison roam outside Yellowstone year-round approved -
Back in December, Montana Governor Steve Bullock said a certain number of the animals should be allowed to wander 400 square miles north and west of the park without being chased back in. Yesterday, the Interagency Bison Management Plan agreed with that decision. It will be the first time in a century that the state will allow bison outside Yellowstone year-round. Associated Press

Data released yesterday by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration show that January through March was a toasty time across the Lower 48, measuring 4.6 degrees Fahrenheit above the 20th-century average. Tigers declared "functionally extinct" in Cambodia -
Poaching and habitat loss have wiped out the big cats in the Southeast Asian country. The last time a tiger was seen in the wild was in 2007.
