Yellowstone’s bison will get year-round habitat in Montana. -
Governor Steve Bullock has proposed expanding the year-round tolerance zone for bison that wander outside of the park. Bison advocates (including NRDC) have praised the small expansion as a step in the right direction. Bozeman Daily Chronicle

New data show the industry hit a record level of production in November, generating enough energy to power 19 million homes. The more than 19,000-strong National League of Cities, along with the U.S. Conference of Mayors and 13 additional cities, filed “friend of the court” motions in defense of the regulations for carbon pollution from power plants. Congress votes to ban plastic microbeads in personal care products. -
The tiny plastic particles, added to scrubs, toothpaste, and more, persist in the environment and are often eaten by unsuspecting fish and wildlife. The Senate and House both approved a bill to start phasing out the bitty beads in 2017. Next stop for the legislation: President Obama’s desk. CBS
