Scientists say the entire West Antarctic Ice Sheet could collapse. -

Researchers modeled what would happen if glaciers in the Amundsen Sea fully melt (a process well under way) and found that the whole ice sheet they're attached to would tumble into the ocean. The time scale is still unknown, but the meltdown could raise global sea levels by almost 11 feet. Washington Post

President Obama won't oblige request to delay Keystone XL decision. -

TransCanada asked the State Department on Monday to put a pin in its consideration of the controversial tar sands pipeline. The White House has now responded, saying the request is likely politically motivated (meaning the company wants to wait for the next president to come along). Nice try...but KXL's evaluation process will remain on track. New York Times

Wildlife managers say Yellowstone grizzlies no longer need federal protection. -

The government set a recovery goal of 500 animals in the Greater Yellowstone region, and the latest count puts the bear's numbers at more than 750. Environmentalists and American Indian tribes, however, worry that removing protections would hamper the comeback. Reuters
