In a peculiar tweet, the U.S. Department of Energy said that Energy Secretary Rick Perry is “winning the fight” against climate scientists. The tweet then linked to an editorial attacking the American Meteorological Society for a letter it wrote in June condemning Perry for stating during a television interview that “carbon dioxide is not a primary contributor to climate change.” (It most certainly is.) Now, Representative Frank Pallone of New Jersey has asked the Government Accountability Office to investigate whether the Energy Department has improperly used taxpayer funds in promoting a misleading opinion piece.
