Oil and gas lobbyist (and pipeline proponent) put in charge of EPA’s water office

Another day, another polluter pal joins the Trump administration. This time it’s Dennis Lee Forsgren, yet another fossil fuel lobbyist, appointed by President Trump to head the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Water. The Intercept gives us the details: “Forsgren was an attorney for HBW Resources, a fossil fuel lobbying firm known for orchestrating campaigns on behalf of industry clients. The public-facing side of Forsgren’s lobbying firm is the Consumer Energy Alliance, an astroturf advocacy organization managed by HBW Resources that works aggressively to build support for contentious oil and gas projects around the country.” Forsgren’s firm launched “Pipelines for America,” a public relations project in support of the controversial Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, which Trump approved earlier this year. A pipeline guy in charge of water safety? Sure, what could go wrong…
