President Trump has nominated Judge Neil M. Gorsuch to be the ninth member of the Supreme Court, a seat that has remained vacant since Justice Antonin Scalia’s passing in February of last year. Judge Gorsuch currently serves on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit and is a graduate of Harvard Law School. The nomination is being met with controversy, following the refusal last year of Senate Republicans to consider President Obama’s nominee, Judge Merrick B. Garland.
