After more than a year of rolling back important environmental protections and granting favors to the fossil fuel industry (among others), Scott Pruitt has resigned from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, amid multiple (and peculiar) scandals. While environmental and public health organizations have worked tirelessly to push Pruitt out and have reason to celebrate his departure, the fight to keep the EPA true to its mission is a long way from over. Andrew Wheeler, who will temporarily head the agency as Pruitt's replacement, is a former lobbyist for the coal industry. According to onEarth, Andrew Wheeler is "essentially Scott Pruitt's ideological twin, but his many years as a Washington insider have endowed him with a political savvy that Pruitt sorely lacks." So Andrew, we have our eye on you, and Scott, don't let the door hit you on the way out!
