NRDC Energy Program Senior Attorney and Co-Director. Visiting Professor of Law at Stanford and UC Berkeley (Boalt Hall). Served as a member of U.S. Secretary of Energy's Advisory Board (1993-2003). Current board memberships: Bonneville Environmental Foundation, California Clean Energy Fund, Center for Energy Efficiency & Renewable Technologies, Renewable Northwest Project, Northwest Energy Coalition, and Sustainable Energy Advisory Board of Texas-based Energy Future Holdings. Member of the National Commission on Energy Policy. Recipient of Heinz Award for Public Policy, Yale Law School's Preiskel-Silverman Fellowship, Lifetime Achievement in Energy Efficiency Award from California's Flex Your Power Campaign, Headwaters Award from Northwest Energy Coalition, and Bonneville Power Administration's Award for Exceptional Public Service. Graduate of Yale College and Yale Law School. Married to Deborah Rhode, MacFarland Professor of Law at Stanford Law School.
