CHAPTER SIX: NUCLEAR WEAPONS ISSUES
Nuclear Forces and WeaponsThe Defense Department homepage, the service homepages, and the homepages of the unified commands (particularly Strategic Command) provide additional information on U.S. nuclear forces. The organizational and doctrinal context for nuclear weapons belonging to the Air Force is covered at Air Combat Command, Air Force Space Command, and Air Force Materiel Command (see Chapter Two).
Even with the end of the Cold War the Navy, in general, continues to follow a more secretive policy than the Department of Defense and the other services. This is especially true with regard to nuclear issues and submarines. To supplement the official material, there are a number of useful private and unofficial submarine-related homepages maintained by submarine veterans and enthusiasts.
