Bipartisanship Funds Essential Government Programs

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following House passage, the Senate has given bipartisan approval to the Fiscal Year 2022 spending bill, sending it to President Biden’s desk.

John Bowman, managing director for federal affairs at NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) made the following statement:

“This bipartisan bill restores critically-needed funding so that federal agencies, starved in the Trump era, can do their jobs—protecting us from harm, safeguarding wildlife and the environment and growing the economy. It increases funding for environmental justice programs, yet more is needed. It also shows, thanks to herculean work by congressional appropriators, we can have a properly functioning government; that’s notable in these politically divisive times.

“Even so, this bill falls short, especially in providing the climate, equity and clean energy investments and initiatives, both domestically and abroad, that we desperately need. Congress should pass them now. They will save families money, create good-paying jobs, reduce pollution in communities across our country and build a prosperous clean energy economy.”
