Industry fracking leader supports more government regulations

George Mitchell, an oil and gas industry leader widely thought to have pioneered the use of fracking to tap into shale formations, was recently interviewed by Forbes Magazine about the regulation of fracking. Among his quotes: "The administration is trying to tighten up controls. I think It’s a good idea. They should have very strict controls." According to the reporter, Mr. Mitchell dismissed any concern that the costs to drillers of abiding by fracking regulations would be egregious.
