Jackson Garrity

Attorney

Jackson Garrity litigates cases involving a mix of environmental, constitutional, and regulatory law. Prior to joining NRDC, he served as an assistant corporation counsel for the City of Chicago, where he defended the city’s efforts to increase police accountability, prevent tenant displacement in gentrifying communities, repair dated infrastructure, and provide other critical services. He also worked at a private law firm and clerked for the Honorable Andrea L. Hertzfeld at the District of Columbia Superior Court. Garrity holds a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from the Ohio State University and a JD, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from American University Washington College of Law. While in school, he worked on both the Administrative Law Review and the Sustainable Development Law & Policy Brief, and received accolades for his performance at the University of West Virginia’s 2021 National Energy Law Moot Court Competition. Prior to law school, Garrity served as a member of the AmeriCorps VISTA program in Ohio’s Appalachian region, where he worked to promote sustainable agricultural practices and develop local food systems to address endemic food insecurity in Ohio’s rural communities. He is based in NRDC's Chicago office.
