Kate Desormeau has litigated a variety of environmental cases in federal court, including cases defending Bears Ears, Grand Staircase-Escalante, and Northeast Canyons and Seamounts national monuments against presidential rollbacks; challenging rulings of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission that would disadvantage clean energy technologies; and restoring bans on oil and gas leasing in the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans. Prior to joining NRDC in 2015, Desormeau was a staff attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union. She clerked for Judge Marsha Berzon of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Desormeau holds a bachelor's degree from Williams College, two master's degrees from University of Oxford, and a JD from Yale Law School. She is based in NRDC's San Francisco office.
