Lauren P. Phillips
Lauren Phillips has worked on litigation to keep hazardous waste from polluting environmental justice communities and to advance access to safe drinking water. Before joining NRDC, Phillips clerked in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York and on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Phillips earned her J.D. magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from Georgetown University Law Center. While in law school, Phillips was a Public Interest law fellow and worked to advance environmental and climate justice at a number of public interest organizations. She also worked on Supreme Court litigation in Georgetown’s environmental law & justice clinic, was the online managing editor of the Georgetown Environmental Law Review, and received the school’s highest recognition for her pro bono service. Phillips holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a master’s degree from Hunter College, and began her career as a public school teacher in the Bronx. She is based in NRDC’s New York City office.
