Lizzy Kaval

Equity Alignment & Implementation Manager, Environment, Equity & Justice Center

Lizzy Kaval is a connector and weaver of people and information, working to support and empower staff to center equity and justice in their work. Kaval believes we can reimagine new ways of interacting with each other and the world by adopting a shared analysis of the root causes of climate change and co-creating transformative solutions. Bringing over 10 years of experience in the non-profit sector, Kaval has worked with executive and program-level leadership and collaborated with hundreds of staff in DEI spaces to advance important racial equity goals. In addition to their lived experience of being queer and neuro diverse, Kaval brings with them an interdisciplinary academic background in cultural anthropology, sociology, and gender and sexuality studies. Kaval currently leads the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Plan Implementation initiative for the People & Communities Program, working alongside a diverse coalition of staff to implement a staff-designed and BIPOC-centered DEI Plan within (and beyond) the Program. She also contributes to the Equity Network and Partnerships team and the continued evolution of the Resilient Communities program by providing strategic support in the reimagining of our partner-focused work aimed towards building collective power. Kaval is based in New York.
