Dr. Marilee Shelton Davenport (she/her)

Marilee Shelton Davenport focuses on growing NRDC’s scientific capacity by strengthening the organization’s connections with the external science community, while also supporting NRDC’s work at the intersection of climate and health. She brings two decades of experience working with scientists and policymakers on environmental health issues for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. She looks for opportunities to address society’s most complex challenges by fostering interdisciplinary scientific communication and understanding of stakeholder needs and environmental justice concerns. She was an AAAS Mass Media Fellow at CNN News and received her PhD in pharmacology from the University of North Carolina, where she studied the molecular mechanisms of chemical health effects. She is based in NRDC's Washington, D.C., office.
