Dr. Sabrina Johnson
Sabrina Johnson works within the Equity & Community Partnerships team and is a key member of the Bloomberg American Sustainable Cities (BASC) project. She advocates for equitable federal housing, sustainable resourcing, utilities, clean energy, and transportation policies and programs in partnership with national, state, and local advocates representing vulnerable communities and low-income residents. Her previous work as an educator and grassroots organizer in Los Angeles and New York focused on creating safe and healthy community access programs that challenge racial hierarchies. In addition to her role on the BASC project, Johnson provides leadership and strategic direction on housing justice, ensuring NRDC's housing work is rooted in collaboration with communities to amplify their voices and lived experiences while pushing for equitable policy solutions that advance safe, healthy, affordable, and resilient housing for those most at risk of climate impacts. She focuses on building resilient communities, centering racial equity, and advancing affordable housing initiatives, and she is dedicated to ensuring that policy reflects the best outcomes and delivers measurable impacts. Johnson holds a PhD from Walden University College of Education and a master's degree in public administration from Long Island University Brooklyn. She is based in NRDC’s Washington, D.C., office.
