Sonya Lunder (she/her)
Sonya Lunder supports NRDC staff and external partners in developing and interpreting scientific information regarding environmental conditions and advocating for stronger regulations of chemical and non-chemical hazards. Lunder holds decades of experience advocating for clean air, safe drinking water, and pesticide regulation, as well as utilizing tools to address the cumulative impacts of pollution and other stressors on community health. She has led research projects to fill critical data gaps, including studies to measure harmful chemicals in people, food and water, and consumer products. Prior to joining NRDC, Lunder was the senior toxic policy advisor at the Sierra Club and a senior analyst at the Environmental Working Group. She has also worked on environmental epidemiology and community-based health interventions at state and county public health departments. Lunder holds a master's degree in public health from the University of California, Berkeley, with a focus on environmental health sciences. She is based in the Denver, Colorado, area.
