Sarah Chasis

Senior Strategist, Oceans, Nature

Sarah Chasis has been a longtime advocate for healthy coasts and oceans. She has protected sensitive areas from offshore oil drilling, protected the public from swimming in polluted waters, strengthened both domestic and international fisheries management, and promoted smarter ocean planning. In recognition of her work, she was selected as the first Coastal Steward of the Year by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. She has served on numerous boards and commissions, including the Marine Board of the National Research Council, and was an adjunct professor of law at New York University School of Law for 15 years. She also received the Smith College Medal, awarded to graduates who have risen to the top of their fields. She is based in New York City.
