HEROES Act Provides Urgent Help to Those That Need It Most

WASHINGTON -- The House took up the next tranche of emergency pandemic relief today.

John Bowman, managing director of Government Affairs for NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), made the following statement:

“This package provides urgent relief to those that need it most: hard-working Americans who’ve lost paychecks and health care insurance; small businesses struggling to survive; and state and local governments forced to weigh layoffs that could put public health and safety at risk.

“It ensures that folks in dire straits won’t lose water or power, provides needed funds for coronavirus testing and helps make sure voters can cast ballots by mail come November.

“Protecting public health - and putting this pandemic behind us - is job No. 1. As we move toward recovery, we must also invest in the clean energy solutions that will help put millions of people back to work and deliver a healthier, more prosperous country.”
