Attorney General Miller Stands Up for Iowans by Helping to Protect the Clean Power Plan

CHICAGO (November 4, 2015) – Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller has joined a group of attorneys general filing a motion supporting the Clean Power Plan.  The historic effort to slash carbon pollution from power plants, the single largest source of CO2 pollution, would boost Iowa’s growing capacity for renewable energy, create jobs and help shield communities from the devastating effects of climate change. Attorney General Miller has previously indicated the rule is, “necessary and practical and doable.”

The following is a statement by Katharine McCormick, Midwest Advocate at the Natural Resources Defense Council:

“Attorney General Tom Miller recognizes that Iowa has much to gain from the Clean Power Plan. In a state where we get nearly a third of our power from wind alone, this common sense rule will pave the way for an even stronger clean energy future for generations to come.

“By standing up for the Clean Power Plan, Attorney General Miller isn’t just standing up for clean air; he is taking action to lower electric bills, create jobs and protect public health in Iowa.”
