WASHINGTON (January 29, 2010) -- President Obama today announced Executive Order 13514 on Federal Sustainability which will call for the Federal Government to cut its global warming pollution  by 28 percent by 2020.

The following is a statement from Frances Beinecke, President of the Natural Resources Defense Council:

"This is a great deal for the American taxpayers and a great example for the rest of the country.

"This is a bold target and real leadership in the fight against global warming.

"The federal government is the largest energy consumer in the United States. By reducing its global warming pollution 28 percent by 2020 the government will save taxpayers money and send a signal that the market for clean energy technology in the United States is growing rapidly.”
