State Attorneys General Should Defend the Public, Not Big Polluters

WASHINGTON (November 6, 2015) – Former New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg today announced a $10 million-plus television ad campaign against the attorneys general of Florida, Michigan, Missouri and Wisconsin who are suing to block the country’s first-ever limits on carbon pollution, which fuels dangerous climate change.

The following is a statement by David Doniger, director of the Climate and Clean Air program at the Natural Resources Defense Council:

“Attorneys general are sworn to defend the people of their state – not advance the interests of big polluters who threaten our health and our children’s future. That's why we wholeheartedly support 18 other attorneys general who this week went to court to defend the Environmental Protection Agency's Clean Power Plan, which will stop power plants from spewing unlimited amounts of hazardous carbon pollution into our atmosphere.”
