Today the Maryland House of Delegates passed legislation that requires oil and gas companies to pay a small fee to fund a study regarding the short-term, long-term and cumulative effects of Marcellus shale drilling and fracking. The study will also include an investigation of best practices and and the need for new laws and regulations in Maryland before natural gas extraction can start.
