Dawn Woodard (they/them)

Staff Scientist, Nature

Dawn Woodard works at the intersection of climate, energy, and policy, with specific expertise in climate modeling and multi-sectoral modeling of human and Earth systems. At NRDC, they focus on both analysis and tool development to support our understanding of the quantitative climate impacts of energy infrastructure projects and policies. Prior to joining NRDC, they spent three years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Joint Global Change Research Institute of Pacific Northwest National Lab and the University of Maryland, working on issues related to land use and carbon cycle modeling, climate feedbacks, and integrated human-Earth system modeling. Woodard got their PhD in Earth system science from the University of California Irvine and holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Appalachian State University. They are based in Washington, D.C.
