Hannon Rasool (he/him)

Managing Director, Transportation, Climate & Energy

Hannon Rasool has focused on clean transportation, climate policy, and energy infrastructure for 20 years across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. At NRDC, he leads national and state strategies to accelerate transportation electrification and expand clean mobility options to improve public health and support economic development, job creation, and affordability. Prior to joining NRDC, Rasool served as director of the Fuels and Transportation Division at the California Energy Commission, leading a multidisciplinary team of approximately 100 professionals and overseeing California’s transportation energy and infrastructure programs. During his tenure, the division’s portfolio expanded from approximately $100 million to more than $3 billion, supporting zero-emission vehicle infrastructure development, modeling and analysis, and regulations. Earlier, he held leadership roles at San Diego Gas & Electric, working on regulatory and policy initiatives related to transportation electrification, renewable energy, and grid modernization. Rasool earned his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa, and he is admitted to the State Bar of California. He is based in the Santa Monica office.
