Regan Nelson works to reduce ocean noise pollution from industrial sources, with a priority focus on commercial shipping. She rejoined NRDC in 2020, after a previous stint from 2009-2012, where she advocated for the suite of Ocean Program priorities to Congress and the administration. Outside of her work with NRDC, Nelson has led coalition efforts to advance sustainable fishing, to secure the survival of endangered species, and to transition communities toward restoration forestry. She ran her own consulting firm for 8 years, helping a diverse array of non-profits and governments design and implement conservation efforts in the ocean and on land. Nelson holds a M.S. degree from the University of Washington, and a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is based in the Bozeman, MT office.
