Saahi Uppalapati
Saahi Uppalapati supports climate resilience, sustainable cooling, and energy efficiency efforts within NRDC’s India program. Her work focuses on advancing technical and policy solutions that strengthen preparedness for extreme heat and expand equitable access to sustainable cooling across India and the Global South. Uppalapati conducts research and collaborates with government agencies, researchers, and community partners to translate evidence into actionable strategies that integrate public health, climate adaptation, and equitable cooling access. Her expertise lies at the intersection of climate change and health, with a focus on leveraging social science insights to bridge evidence and action, and build public momentum for climate solutions that support a safer and equitable future.
Uppalapati holds a PhD from George Mason University, a master's in environmental studies from the State University of New York's College of Environmental Science and Forestry, a master's of public administration from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School, and a bachelor's in environmental studies and politics from Whitman College. She is based in NRDC’s Washington, D.C., office.
