This week, NRDC will be launching an advertising campaign in 15 states and 14 congressional districts to educate the public about the Inflation Reduction Act and to thank key senators and members of Congress for their support of the legislation. As NRDC President Manish Bapna said in his statement upon passage of the Inflation Reduction Act in the House of Representatives, “A great tide has turned. This is the strongest U.S. climate action ever in the moment when we need it most. It sets us on course for a clean energy future. The country will never turn back, and the gains will be profound.”

NRDC’s work does not end here. We will be working in the coming days, months, and years with partners and allies in frontline communities across the country to break our dependence on dirty fossil fuels and to ensure the clean energy transition does not perpetuate the inequities of the past.

As we turn to that work, we also want to recognize the legislators who helped make this unprecedented climate bill a reality. The more than $800,000 ad campaign includes TV and digital video ads, static digital graphics, and direct mail celebrating the biggest and boldest action on climate in our country’s history. The ads focus on crucial and popular elements of the Inflation Reduction Act that will benefit all people—from cutting the costs of our monthly energy bills and creating thousands of new jobs in clean energy industries to investments in resilient agriculture programs and tax credits to help families afford new and used electric vehicles.

Starting Wednesday, August 17, NRDC is launching a weeklong ad campaign in 10 districts. Developed with our allies, these ads will thank those who were important members of NRDC and NRDC Action Fund’s advocacy. The ads will run on CNN, MSNBC, and digital platforms, highlighting the passage of this historic climate legislation. The cable and digital programs will run in the following districts: CA-10 (Representative Josh Harder), CA-45 (Representative Katie Porter), CA-49 (Representative Mike Levin), IL-14 (Representative Lauren Underwood), MI-08 (Representative Elissa Slotkin), MI-11 (Representative Haley Stevens), NJ-07 (Representative Tom Malinowski), VA-02 (Representative Elaine Luria), VA-07 (Representative Abigail Spanberger), and WA-07 (Representative Pramila Jayapal).

We will be layering this effort with digital videos, social graphics, and direct mail in select places to educate the public on vital benefits of the Inflation Reduction Act—and thanking key champions in Congress who were pivotal in getting it across the finish line.
