Laura Goldberg (she/her)

Laura Goldberg oversees NRDC's Midwest strategy for the Center of Campaigns & Organizing. During her time at NRDC, she has worked on various issues in the region, including increasing energy efficiency, clean energy, and equitable climate solutions in affordable housing and underserved communities across the Midwest, especially in low-income communities and communities of color. She focuses on local and state energy equity and utility affordability issues and ensures that utility and housing access are considered human rights. She is an expert in designing energy efficiency programs for affordable multifamily housing and under-resourced communities. Goldberg helped develop and continues to lead on the implementation of NRDC's national climate strategy, including components focused on the clean power sector and equitable building decarbonization, as well as the innovative initiative focused on transforming energy decision-making spaces. Her portfolio prioritizes racial equity and justice, including advocating for both equitable processes and policy outcomes. She supports and collaborates closely with coalitions of partners at the intersection of housing, energy, health, environmental justice, racial justice, and renter rights in MI, MN, MO, IL, and nationally, and she embeds deep partnerships and collaborative solutions throughout her work. Goldberg was named a Midwest Energy News 40 under 40 Award Recipient in 2019. She worked on energy efficiency outreach and education at the Citizens Utility Board of Illinois before joining NRDC in 2016 and has been working on energy and environmental issues since 2008. Goldberg holds a bachelor's degree in international studies with a global environment concentration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is based in NRDC's Chicago Office.
