Ann Alexander works on environmental and energy-related issues unique to the Midwest region, both as a litigator and as a policy advocate. Specifically, she works to stop dirty-fuel projects—including those that involve Canadian tar sands development and liquid coal—and to strengthen regulations under the Clean Water Act. Before NRDC, Alexander served as environmental counsel to Illinois attorney general Lisa Madigan, developing environmental initiatives and acting as the governor’s point person on multistate environmental litigation. She has a bachelor's degree from Yale University and a JD from Columbia University. She is based in Chicago.
