Cyndi Roper

Senior Policy Advocate, Environmental Health

Cyndi Roper is a senior policy advocate with NRDC’s Safe Water Initiative. She has worked at the intersection of water policy and advocacy for nearly four decades. Roper prioritizes ensuring that community voices are at the center of efforts to solve the problems impacting their communities. She helped secure Michigan’s lead in drinking water protections—which are the strongest in the nation—through both the Michigan Lead and Copper Rule and the state’s landmark Filter First laws for schools and childcare centers. Roper also helped secure Michigan’s PFAS in drinking water protections and works alongside community partners, social service agencies, water utilities, and others in efforts to establish a statewide water affordability program. Roper holds degrees from both Drury University and the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is based in East Lansing, Michigan.
