Laura Goldberg leads regional strategy development and coordination across all of NRDC's Midwest portfolio of work (Climate & Energy, Nature, Environmental Health, Equity, Capacity, and Power-Building), as a part of the new Regional Impact team. This includes chairing the Midwest Impact Council, an internal regional leadership team. Goldberg previously directed NRDC's Midwest energy equity and affordability strategy and led the Midwest region of the Resilient Communities division. This included advancing energy efficiency, clean energy, and equitable climate solutions in affordable housing and underserved communities. She specializes in designing energy efficiency programs for affordable multifamily housing and under-resourced communities. She also has deep expertise in local and state energy policy, energy equity and utility affordability issues, equitable building decarbonization, and transforming energy decision-making spaces. Goldberg is committed to prioritizing racial equity, justice, and systems change approaches in all environmental work. She actively supports and collaborates with partners and coalitions across housing, environment, energy, health, environmental justice, racial justice, and renter rights nationally and in the Midwest. Goldberg was honored as a Midwest Energy News 40 under 40 Award Recipient in 2019. She has been working on and dedicated to energy and environmental issues since 2008. She holds a bachelor's degree in international studies with a global environment concentration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is based in NRDC's Chicago office.
