Mark Izeman

Senior Strategist, Environmental Health

Mark Izeman has worked at NRDC for 25 years on a wide range of environmental and public health issues, primarily in the greater New York–Northeast region. He has focused on such issues as local food, recycling, natural gas drilling, drinking water, parks protection, and transportation. Izeman also spent three years in Moscow, Russia, working on climate change and energy efficiency issues. He is the author or co-author of numerous publications, including The New York Environment Book. He served as law clerk to a U.S. federal district judge in Rhode Island and is chairman of the Catskill Mountainkeeper. Izeman is a graduate of Brown University and New York University School of Law, where he was a Root Tilden Scholar. He is based in New York City.
