Sarah Elkotbeid advocates for just and healthy communities for all, working to ensure that those most burdened by the climate crisis receive the benefits and positive impacts of NRDC's interventions first. While at NRDC, Elkotbeid has focused on transportation equity, social housing, and clean air initiatives. Prior to NRDC, Elkotbeid received two bachelor's degrees from the University of California, Santa Cruz, in environmental studies with a concentration in sustainable food systems and agroecology and in feminist studies with a concentration in culture, power, and representation. She is based in NRDC's Santa Monica office.
