Deputy Director, Clean Vehicles & Fuels Group, Climate & Clean Energy Program
Simon Mui works to advance fuel efficiency, cleaner fuels, and zero-emission vehicles in the U.S. and internationally. Over the past 12 years, he has worked collaboratively with partners on policy and legislative campaigns to secure major wins including zero emission vehicle programs, clean fuel standards, vehicle emission standards, clean vehicle incentive programs, and state clean energy laws. Prior to joining NRDC, he worked at the Transportation & Climate Division at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency where he coauthored studies on plug-in electric vehicles and climate-mitigation strategies. He has also served as a fellow at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and worked as an engineer developing lithium-ion batteries for a startup company. He holds two bachelor’s degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, a master’s in technology and policy, and a PhD in engineering from MIT. He is based in NRDC’s San Francisco office.
