WASHINGTON (October 24, 2011) – The House tonight passed legislation that would make it illegal for U.S. airlines to participate in the European Union’s plan to reduce the carbon footprint of trans-Atlantic flights.

The following is a statement from Jake Schmidt, international climate policy director at the Natural Resources Defense Council, on H.R. 2594.

With the global economy already in intensive care, this is no time to invite a trans-Atlantic trade war.”
