House Panel Passes Misleading “Gasoline Regulations” Bill

NRDC: Bill Will Not Lower Gas Prices but Will Harm Health, Environment

WASHINGTON – (April 17, 2012) – The House Subcommittee on Energy and Power today approved the “Gasoline Regulations Act of 2012,” moving forward legislation that would do nothing to reduce gas prices but would harm our health and environment.

The following is a statement from Natural Resources Defense Council Legislative Director Scott Slesinger:

“This bill is a farce and an effort to mislead the public. It uses high gasoline prices as cover to fundamentally rewrite key portions of the Clean Air Act that have protected the health of all Americans.

“The damage to our health that would result from this bill will far outlast the current run-up in prices at the pump.”
