Trump Moving Ahead with a Dirty Power Plan

WASHINGTON – With the Trump Administration poised to repeal the Clean Power Plan and try eventually to replace it with a fake plan that would aggravate climate change and further threaten public health, the following is a statement from David Doniger, director of the Climate and Clean Air program at the Natural Resources Defense Council:

“We have a Clean Power Plan. Now we’re getting a do-nothing Dirty Power Plan. It would leave millions of Americans in grave danger from extreme weather and other climate impacts. And it would cause tens of thousands of early deaths and sicken hundreds of thousands more."

“The Trump EPA apparently is pretending the power industry still looks like it did 100 years ago, with isolated plants serving only the immediate area around them. And it’s cooking the books on science and economics. The courts should take a very hard look at these issues. And we’ll keep fighting in every possible way to help protect Americans from the widening dangers of climate change.”
