House Leaders Chart Path to Clean Energy Future by 2050

WASHINGTON  – Key House lawmakers today released a legislative framework aimed at addressing the threats of climate change that would put the United States on the path to a 100 percent clean economy by 2050.

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee Chairman Paul Tonko (D-NY) and Energy Subcommittee Chairman Bobby L. Rush (D-IL) released the framework for a Climate Leadership and Environmental Action for our Nation’s (CLEAN) Future Act.

Following is a statement from John Bowman, managing director of Government Affairs at the Natural Resources Defense Council:

“This far-sighted plan can launch the power, resources and determination of our nation to meet, and overcome, the rising dangers from climate change. It sends a message that we need to move, and rapidly, to a future powered by clean energy and transportation sources. And it puts into action ready-to-go solutions, so our children don’t inherit a world of rising seas, punishing drought, deadly wildfires and raging storms.”
