Gina McCarthy: Stimulus Bill is Much Needed. More Work to Do

WASHINGTON - The following is a statement by Gina McCarthy, president and CEO of the Natural Resources Defense Council, on the COVID-19 stimulus bill announced today by the congressional leadership:

“This much-needed step provides emergency aid to people at the greatest health and economic risks: the laid-off workers and our heroic medical personnel. People on the frontlines of the crisis will need our nation’s ongoing support as this pandemic persists.

“So, Congress’s job continues. Lawmakers must chart a course for our future by developing a visionary stimulus package to set America up for long-term recovery. Congress now needs to make our economy stronger, more equitable and more sustainable by broadening the protections for the most at-risk and investing in and expanding the workforce that is building the cleaner, smarter economy of the future.”
